French computer glitch ripples through European air traffic, disrupting hundred of flights

A Sunday morning computer glitch in France led to multiple delayed flights across Europe, The Associated Press reports.

The glitch temporarily disrupted all air traffic in France, including planes passing over France and planes coming in and out of Paris from the busy Charles de Gaulle airport.

A spokesman for French civil aviation authority DGAC told AP the glitch is being investigated and the issue was fixed before midday.  {mosads}

The spokesman told AP the glitch had “no impact on flight security.”

Airlines struggled to re-direct passengers traveling to neighboring countries, particularly Britain, AP reports.

British Airways told AP in a statement it expects “disruption” to some flights to France and Spain, and “services flying over those countries.”

The airline said it offered free ticket exchanges to passengers traveling to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal.
