Lexus model dubbed ‘most ticketed’ car

Japanese automaker Toyota’s Lexus ES 300 model has been dubbed the most frequent ticketed car model by the website Insurance.com.

The website, which bills itself as a car insurance comparison shopping hub, said 33 percent of drivers who have been surveyed recently that have received traffic tickets in the last two years said they drive the Lexus sedan.

“It’s the driver that gets tickets, not the car,” Penny Gusner, consumer analyst for Insurance.com, said in a statement about the study. “But it is interesting to see what vehicle makes and models attract drivers who are prone to traffic violations.”

{mosads}The four next car models to be ticketed most according to the study were the Nissan 350Z, Dodge Charger SE/SXT, Volkswagen Jetta GL and Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/LT, which had 33 percent, 32 percent and 31 percent each respectively.

The website said least likely cars to be ticketed were the Buick Encore (3 percent), Lexus IS350 (3 percent), Acura ILX (6 percent) and Cadillac ATS (6 percent).

Gunser said the information in the survey could be used to help auto customers predict insurance prices.

“It’s notable that cars on most tickets list also appear to have an above-average number of insurance claims,” she said. “Twenty-three percent of surveyed drivers at the top of Insurance.com’s ticket list filed an insurance claim during the survey period, while only 19 percent of all other cars made insurance claims within that timeframe.”
