Illinois rep tapped for House transportation committee

Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) has been added to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the panel announced on Thursday.

Bost is filling a position that became vacant when Rep. Tom Price (R-S.C.) moved to the House Ways and Means Committee.

House Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) said Bost will be a welcome addition to the panel that oversees the nation’s transportation systems.

{mosads}”Congressman Bost’s background in small business and in the state legislature makes him a great addition to the Transportation Committee,” Shuster said in a statement.

“His various experiences and perspectives as a small business owner and a manager in his family’s  trucking business, as a first responder, and as a pilot will serve him well, and benefit the work the Committee does in overseeing the nation’s transportation network and federal emergency response programs,” Shuster continued. “I welcome him to the Committee, and look forward to working together.”

Bost said he is excited to be joining the transportation panel as it embarks on a debate about federal aviation funding.

“As someone who grew up in and later managed a family trucking business, I am excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work on the Committee,” Bost said. “Under Chairman Shuster’s leadership, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has been an important voice for job creation, economic growth, and regulatory reform.  I look forward to bringing my firsthand experience to the dais for these important deliberations.”
