Malaysia Airlines sued over Flight 370 disappearance
Malaysia Airlines has been sued over the disappearance of its Flight 370, the Associated Press reports.
The plane, which was carrying 239 passengers at the time of disappearance in March, has still not been found despite an intensive multi-national search.
The 13 and 11-year old sons of a man who died in the presumed crash of the jetliner have filed a lawsuit against Malaysia Air and the country’s civil aviation agency for their handling of the jetliner’s disappearance, according to the report.
{mosads}“We have waited for eight months. After speaking to various experts, we believe we have sufficient evidence for a strong case. A big plane missing in this age of technology is really unacceptable,” the sons’ lawyer, Arunan Selvaraj, said according to the AP.
The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has mystified U.S. and international aviation experts for the better part of a month.
The plane, which was a Boeing 737, was last detected by air traffic controllers about an hour into its flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China.
Investigators initially believed the plane has crashed into the Gulf of Thailand, where it was scheduled to be flying at the time of its last contact.
The search was later relocated to the south Indian Ocean after investigations discovered satellite communications from the missing jet’s engines and leaders from multiple nations began finding images in the water that they believed were related to the plane’s disappearances.
The leads have thus far turned up empty, however, and officials have declared the plane likely crashed in the Indian Ocean.
