Port wants to build baseball stadium
The Port of Oakland, Calif., is trying to build a stadium for the city’s Major League Baseball team, the Oakland Tribune reports.
The port is seeking to convert a shipping terminal that was recently abandoned into a new waterfront stadium for the Athletics baseball team.
{mosads}The team, which currently shares its home with the National Football League’s Oakland Raiders, has expressed doubt about the viability of the port location for a new baseball park, according to the report.
Oakland leaders are hoping to use the proposal to dissuade the A’s from considering moving to San Jose.
