Airlines cancel thousands of ATL flights

Airlines have canceled more than 1,000 flights to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as the city has been shut down by a rare southeast snow storm.

Five-hundred fifty-four departing flights and 551 inbound planes were canceled at the airport on Tuesday, according to the website FlightAware.com.

Another 306 outbound flights and 215 inbound planes were delayed Tuesday, the website said.

{mosads}As of Wednesday morning, 202 outgoing Atlanta flights and 230 inbound planes were canceled.

Atlanta has more than four times the number of flight cancelations Wednesday as the nearest ranked airport, Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Chicago’s major airport had 44 flight cancelations on Tuesday.
