Poll: Fifty-nine percent want TSA agents armed

A new poll released Friday by the conservative Reason Foundation found that 59 percent of Americans want the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) agents to carry guns.

The poll was taken after a shooting at the Los Angeles International Airport last month ignited a debate about arming TSA agents.

{mosads}The poll found nearly two-thirds of both Republicans and Democrats both supported allowing TSA agents to carry guns.

Fifty-one percent of independents also supported the proposal, according to the poll.

The proposal was much less popular with libertarians, with 56 percent in opposition, the poll found.
