Highway safety administrator resigning

The Obama administration’s highway safety chief is stepping down from his post, officials at the Department of Transportation confirmed to The Hill on Thursday.

National Highway and Traffic Safety Administrator David Strickland is resigning after almost four years atop the agency.

{mosads}Strickland will be replaced by Deputy NHTSA Administrator David Friedman on an interim basis.

Prior to coming to the agency, Strickland served as a staffer to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
