House tweets water bill conferees

The House has named its negotiators for an upcoming conference with Senate leaders over a new bill to boost U.S. ports and waterways.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure committee announced in a series of tweets on Thursday that the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), would be joined by 12 other Republicans and 11 Democrats in representing the lower chamber.

The other Republican House conferees on the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) will be Reps. John Duncan Jr. (R-Tenn.), Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Candice Miller (R-Mich.), Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), Larry Buchson (R-Ind.), Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio), Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.), Daniel Webster (R-Fla.), Tom Rice (R-S.C.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) and Rodney Davis (R-Ill.).

Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.), Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas), Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.), Donna Edwards (D-Md.), John Garamendi (D-Calif.), Janice Hahn (D-Calif.), Rick Nolan (D-Minn.), Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) and Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.).

The Senate announced earlier this month that its conferees would be Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), David Vitter (R-La.), Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and James Inhofe (R-Okla.).

The bill at the center of the bicameral negotiations includes authorizations for about $8.2 billion worth of port and waterways projects. The chambers each passed versions of the measure earlier this year, and they are expected to begin conferencing soon to iron out differences in their approaches to selecting the projects that will receive the investments.
