{mosads}NASA jets scouted possible routes for the shuttle over the region Thursday morning.
The shuttle program ended in 2011, after which NASA accepted proposals from a number of museums across the country for permanent placement of the shuttle fleet. The Udvar-Hazy Center was one of four museums selected; the Enterprise test orbiter currently at the Smithsonian complex will be moved to the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York City.
The government will stage an arrival ceremony and four-day public festival to commemorate the shuttle’s arrival in Northern Virginia next week.
