Facebook to use headquarters as vaccination site

Facebook will be converting part of its Menlo park, Calif., headquarters into a COVID-19 vaccination site, the company’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, said Friday.

The Silicon Valley giant will partner with Ravenswood Family Health Network, a local health center, as part of the effort to create a vaccination site for hard-hit communities, Sandberg said in a Facebook post

“As more COVID-19 vaccines roll out across the country, we are finally seeing glimmers of hope, which can grow so long as we continue to make progress. At Facebook, we’re focused on doing our part to help people get vaccinated, especially those in underserved communities,” Sandberg wrote.

She said the company is also teaming up with the state of California and local nonprofits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest-hit regions.

In San Mateo County, where Menlo Park is located, more than 530,000 vaccine doses have been administered, according to state data.

Every Californian 16 or older will be eligible to sign up for a vaccination in the state starting April 15. The state is now vaccinating individuals 50 or older.
