YouTube hits Infowars with strike for hate speech, child endangerment

Infowars’s YouTube channel has received another “strike” from the company for content that violates the platform’s community guidelines, YouTube confirmed on Wednesday.

If a channel gets three strikes in a three-month window, YouTube bans it from the video streaming platform.

{mosads}The strike came after Infowars posted two videos containing hate speech against Muslims and another with hate speech against transgender people, the Verge reported.

Another showed Infowars founder Alex Jones ridiculing a child who was pushed to the ground by an adult. The video was titled “How to prevent liberalism.”

“We have long-standing policies against child endangerment and hate speech,” a YouTube spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

“We apply our policies consistently according to the content in the videos, regardless of the speaker or the channel,” the statement continued. “We also have a clear three strikes policy and we terminate channels when they receive three strikes in three months.”

YouTube hit Infowars with a strike in February for a video promoting conspiracy theories about the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.

Because Infowars has not received any strikes within the past three months, its count is back down to one strike. Even with a single strike though, YouTube’s rules bar Infowars from broadcasting live YouTube videos for 90 days.

Infowars stirred controversy earlier this week with a video in which Jones threatened special counsel Robert Mueller, accusing him of being a pedophile and covering up sex crimes.

That video was only posted to Facebook, not YouTube. Facebook declined to penalize Jones for the video.
