Uber president quits: report

Uber President Jeff Jones is quitting his post at the technology company, Recode first reported on Sunday.

The ride-hailing company confirmed the news to Recode. Sources told the news outlet that Jones determined the current conditions at Uber were “more problematic than he realized.”

In a statement to Recode, Jones said, “The beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced at Uber, and I can no longer continue as president of the ride sharing business.”

{mosads}The news of his departure comes after a series of scandals for Uber in 2017.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick in February apologized after video emerged of him arguing with an Uber driver. That same month, a former engineer wrote a blog post describing experiences with sexual harassment during her time at the company. Kalanick also came under fire for a brief tenure on President Trump’s business advisory council. 

Uber announced Jones’s hire in August 2016, according to the company’s website.
