Report: Utah AG being considered to head Federal Trade Commission

President-elect Donald Trump is considering Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes (R) to be his pick for chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Politico reported.

Last year, Reyes called on the FTC to reopen its dormant anti-trust investigation into Google.

He has frequently joined with other Republican attorneys general in suing the Obama administration on issues including transgender rights and federal land use.

{mosads}Since his call for greater scrutiny of Google’s practices, some tech companies have tried to get on Reyes’s good side.

According to Politico, Facebook donated $10,000 to his campaign in October, while Microsoft gave $1,000 that month.

Before being tapped as attorney general in 2013 by Gov. Gary Herbert (R), Reyes was the general counsel of digital media company eTAGZ.
