Facebook lets users announce voter registration

{mosads}It’s another move by Facebook to get its users engaged in national and local political discussions on the social networking site ahead of the November elections. The social network has expanded its footprint into politics over the last few years, including rolling out voting-themed apps and encouraging candidates to expand their outreach to voters on its site.

Facebook also had representatives on the ground at both the Democratic and Republican conventions this year.

In a blog post, Facebook said it believes the new timeline feature and its “I’m Voting” app with CNN “will result in a more involved and informed citizenry ahead of Election Day.”
