The Internet Association launches voter information site

A group representing dozens of Internet companies launched a website Monday that allows voters to easily find polling locations and sample ballots. 

The Internet Association and The Pew Charitable Trusts launched Gettothepolls.com that uses information from Google’s Civic Information application, which allows developers to display information about elected officials, candidates and polling places.

{mosads}”We joined forces with The Internet Association and technology powerhouses from across the Web to make official election information available where people look for it most—online and on mobile devices,” said Zach Markovits, of Pew’s Voting Information Project. 

The site allows users to type in their street address anywhere in the country, and it will display early voting locations, hours of operation and candidates for each elected office.

Google has already launched a midterm politics and election page that instructs users how to vote and provides a number of videos and news articles about the upcoming elections. 

The Internet Association represents around 40 companies including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Amazon, Reddit and others and is “committed to promoting policies that protect the Internet’s future.”
