Software Alliance bulks up

A top software trade group is bringing on a new vice president.

BSA/the Software Alliance announced on Thursday that Craig Albright, a former official at the World Bank and the White House, is joining the organization as vice president for legislative strategy. He started on Thursday.

{mosads}“We are very pleased to have Craig join our team,” Victoria Espinel, the trade group’s CEO, said in a statement. “His extensive experience at the World Bank, the White House, and in Congress will be a great asset for our members and our industry as we advocate for policies that enable technology innovation and drive growth in the digital economy.”

The announcement is one of the first major hires BSA has made since Espinel took the helm last summer. She took over for Robert Holleyman, whom President Obama tapped to be a deputy U.S. trade representative last week. 

BSA counts major software companies like Adobe, Intel and Apple among its members.

Albright spent about four years advising the current and former World Bank presidents about overall strategy and coordinating with governments, thinks tanks and other organizations.

Before that, he served as a top assistant to former Vice President Cheney and former President George W. Bush. He also spent time in the office of Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) and former Rep. Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.).
