Former NPR chief Schiller lands at NBC News

The incident prompted Republicans to attempt to repeal federal funding for public broadcasting. Schiller also drew criticism for her handling of the firing of news analyst Juan Williams, one of the network’s most prominent African-American on-air personalities.
That controversy cost Schiller her 2010 bonus and resulted in the resignation of senior vice president for news Ellen Weiss. NPR is still seeking replacements for both Schiller and Weiss.
Before joining NPR Schiller worked at The New York Times Company as senior vice president and general manager running the day-to-day operations of NYTimes.com. She also served as head of CNN Productions.
