Bob Kerrey will not lead Motion Picture Association of America
Former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) will not take the helm at the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the organization announced on Thursday after it was widely reported that a deal was sealed.
Kerrey and the MPAA have ended their negotiations, the MPAA said in a statement.
“The search process for a new CEO will continue,” the statement said.
Studio sources reportedly told the Hollywood Reporter that during the negotiations, Kerrey had increasingly gotten the sense that it would not work out.
One source said the MPAA suggested they negotiations cease, to which Kerrey agreed.
Kerrey said it was a “a simple matter of a different view of what the job required.”
Dan Glickman, a former Clinton Agriculture Secretary and ex-Democratic Kansas congressman, was the previous head of the MPAA. He left the group in March and now heads up Refugees International.
