Comey: It’s ‘a very good thing’ that Mueller report suggests no collusion
Former FBI Director James Comey said Tuesday he believes it’s “a very good thing” that the Mueller report appears to suggest there is not significant evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in the 2016 election.
“It’s a very good thing that the special counsel appears to have concluded there isn’t sufficient evidence to establish any Americans were part of this effort,” Comey told CNN. “I don’t care what party you’re in, that should be good news to you as an American citizen.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller submitted a report on his investigation into whether Russia interfered in the 2016 election, including possible coordination with President Trump’s campaign, to Attorney General William Barr last month. Barr said the probe found no evidence of collusion. The full report has not been released.{mosads}
Comey, a frequent Trump critic who was fired by the president in 2017, said before the report’s release that he wasn’t “rooting” for the report to convict or clear the president.
“I’m not rooting for Mr. Mueller to demonstrate that he is a criminal,” Comey wrote in New York Times op-ed last month. “I’m also not rooting for Mr. Mueller to ‘clear’ the president. I’m not rooting for anything at all, except that the special counsel be permitted to finish his work, charge whatever cases warrant charging and report on his work.”
