Documents show Clinton aides completed high-level security training

Senior aides to Hillary Clinton completed the highest level of mandated security training during her tenure as secretary of State, according to newly released documents.

It is unclear, however, whether Clinton herself completed the “indoctrination” for how to treat ultra-sensitive material known as “sensitive compartmented information.”

There is no confirmation in a batch of 46 pages released to the Daily Caller News Foundation on Tuesday that she had finished the training. But additional materials the State Department is planning to release to the conservative news outlet in the coming weeks could contain proof that she had completed the training.

{mosads}Sensitive compartmented information (SCI), which is among the most closely guarded material in the government’s hands, includes information directly from U.S. spies based in foreign countries.

Documents branded as SCI must be kept in secure facilities in government buildings and transported under strict conditions. Cellphones, laptops and other electronics devices are not allowed in facilities, known as sensitive compartmented information facilities, that house the highly classified documents.

The documents released to the Daily Caller News Foundation show that Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin both completed the training in January of 2009 on how to treat the documents and report any incidents that could jeopardize U.S. secrets. Adviser Jacob Sullivan also agreed to policies regarding the use of his State Department identification badge.

The materials were released to the Daily Caller News Foundation following a lawsuit brought against the State Department seeking records about Clinton’s security training during her time as the nation’s top diplomat.

If Clinton, now the Democratic nominee for president, had completed the training, proof likely would have been released this week, according to Bradley Moss, a lawyer who represented the news outlet.

Since all the other materials released on Tuesday were from 2009, “logic would presumably dictate that … any SCI indoctrination training of [Clinton] in 2009 would have shown up in that first batch of production,” he said in an email to The Hill.

A federal judge ordered the State Department to release the materials to the news outlet on Monday. However, because of an email issue, the release was delayed until early Tuesday morning.
