President Trump sounded off on the most recent violence between Israeli and the Palestinians, putting the onus on Palestinians to “END the violence and work towards peace” in a Sunday night tweet.
“Once again, Israel faces a barrage of deadly rocket attacks by terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad. We support Israel 100% in its defense of its citizens,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “To the Gazan people — these terrorist acts against Israel will bring you nothing but more misery. END the violence and work towards peace – it can happen!”
{mosads}The Israeli military has said it launched airstrikes into Gaza in response to a Palestinian sniper wounding two Israeli troops. Militants have fired about 600 rockets toward Israel as of Sunday, with Israel launching 260 airstrikes in response, according to the Israeli Defense Forces. At least four Israelis and 20 Palestinians have died thus far and Hamas has reportedly called for a ceasefire.
On Sunday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), the first Palestinian-American elected to Congress, called out what she called “dehumanizing” framing of Palestinians in coverage of the tensions.
