At least 14 dead after 6.4-magnitude earthquake strikes Albania

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked Albania on Tuesday, killing at least 14 and injuring hundreds more, CNN reports.

The epicenter of the quake was Durres, a port city about 22 miles from Tirana, the European country’s capital.

A tweet from AJ+ said the death toll had risen to 16 people.

Nearby Bosnia and Herzegovina was hit with a 5.4-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday as well.

According to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s office, several European countries, including Italy and Greece, have begun to help Albania with the recovery process.
