North Korea fired unidentified “projectiles” on Wednesday local time toward the East Sea after North Korea and the U.S. said nuclear talks would resume, according to Yonhap news agency.
South Korean military announced the launch from the eastern coastal town of Wonsan, Yonhap reported.
“Our military is monitoring the situation in case of additional launches and maintaining a readiness posture,” the South’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reportedly said in a release. {mosads}
The military officials did not report details of the projectile’s launch, including type, flight range and maximum altitude, according to Yonhap.
The State Department confirmed Tuesday morning the U.S. and North Korea will soon hold nuclear talks amid a months-long stalemate in negotiations.
President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un failed to reach an agreement at a summit in February.
