President Trump wished U.K. Prime Minster Boris Johnson good health on Sunday during a White House press briefing following news of the former’s hospitalization for coronavirus symptoms.

At a daily briefing on the state of the Trump administration’s efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus, Trump said that “all Americans” were praying for Johnson’s speedy recovery.

“I want to express our nation’s well wishes to Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he wages his own, personal fight with the virus,” Trump said. “All Americans are praying for him; he’s a friend of mine and a great gentleman.”

“As you know he was brought to the hospital today but I’m hopeful and sure that he’s going to be fine,” the president continued.

Johnson’s office said earlier Sunday that the prime minister had been admitted to the hospital on the advice of his doctor when coronavirus symptoms did not disappear after 10 days. Johnson was first diagnosed with the disease two weeks ago.

“The Prime Minister thanks [National Health Service] staff for all of their incredible hard work and urges the public to continue to follow the Government’s advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives,” Johnson’s office said.
