Former President Trump highlighted Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s support for him Sunday in the wake of his conviction in the New York hush money criminal case last week.

In a social media post Sunday evening, Trump posted a screenshot of Orbán’s message on the social platform X.

“I’ve known President @realDonaldTrump to be a man of honour,” Orbán wrote on X early Friday morning, following the conviction. “As President, he always put America first, he commanded respect around the world and used this respect to build peace.”

“Let the people make their verdict this November!” Orbán wrote, echoing Trump’s sentiment following the conviction news. “Keep on fighting, Mr. President!”

Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a scheme to hide potentially damaging information from the American public ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s legal team has vowed to appeal the verdict.

Orbán — who has long had a close relationship with factions of the U.S. political right — joined other Republican allies of the former president’s in defending the presumptive 2024 GOP nominee for president.
