Ecuador to Assange: Look after cat, clean bathroom if you want internet

The government of Ecuador reportedly is making WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s internet access subject to a series of rules, including cleaning the bathroom, taking care of his cat and steering clear of hot political topics.

Assange is barred from “interfering in the internal affairs of other states” as well as activities “that could prejudice Ecuador’s good relations with other states,” according to a memo released by the Ecuadorean website Codigo Vidrio and reported by The Associated Press.

Assange is also required to take better care of his pet cat, or else it will be confiscated and taken to an animal shelter.

{mosads}Since 2012, Assange has been sheltering in the Ecuadorean embassy in London to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces sex crime allegations.

WikiLeaks had announced Sunday that Assange would regain access to the internet after a six months lapse, according to The Associated Press. The site did not specify if Assange was required to abide by Ecuador’s conditions.

In March, Ecuador had said that it was restricting Assange’s internet access.

The news agency also reported that Assange has been getting on his hosts’ nerves.

In particular, he reportedly upset those sheltering him when he vocally supported Catalonian secessionists in Spain last year.
