Netanyahu hopes US will recognize Israel’s claim on Golan Heights
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that he’s hopeful the United States will recognize Israel’s claim over the Golan Heights, according to Reuters.
His comments came days after U.S. national security adviser John Bolton told Reuters that the U.S. has not discussed the claim.

Netanyahu told Reuters he hasn’t reduced his expectations that the U.S. will eventually recognize Israel’s claim to sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
“Would I give up on such a thing? No way,” he said.
Bolton told Reuters earlier this week that he’s “heard the idea being suggested” but said the U.S. hasn’t discussed recognizing Israel’s claim.
“I’ve heard the idea being suggested but there’s no discussion of it, no decision within the U.S. government,” Bolton told Reuters during a visit to Israel. “Obviously we understand the Israeli claim that it has annexed the Golan Heights — we understand their position — but there’s no change in the U.S. position for now.”
