Abbas calls for ‘end to all conflict with Israel’ in first UN speech as president of Palestine

“History,” Abbas said, teaches that “waging war, occupation, settlements and walls may provide temporary quiet and temporary domination; they certainly do not and cannot ensure real security or guarantee sustainable peace.”
