Senate panel clears 14 ambassador nominations

{mosads}Tuesday’s en-bloc approval aims to get the nominees confirmed by the Senate this week before the August recess so the new ambassadors can enroll their children in school and otherwise prepare for the coming year in their new posts.

Separately, the panel confirmed Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) as chairman of the subpanel on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, while officially giving new member Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) the chairmanship of the foreign aid subpanel.
