Iran nuclear talks resume

Iran and six world powers on Friday restarted negotiations to reach a comprehensive nuclear deal with Tehran. After a two-month gap, Western officials warned the importance of meeting the November 24 deadline.

{mosads}The latest round of talks between the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, took place on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, the first formal meeting since the world leaders failed to reach a deal by the original July 20 deadline.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the talks had entered a “crucial phase” as the November deadline nears, according to The Associated Press. He also suggested that Iran would carry blame if the sides failed to finalize a deal.

“We are entering the crucial phase of the…negotiations with Iran,” German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters Friday. “There is no more room for Iran to play for time. We are willing to offer Iran a fair deal. However for that to happen, Iran will need to move on the core issues.”
