Reports: Biden to pitch Syria plans to GOP senators

{mosads}Sens. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), Dan Coats (Ind.), Susan Collins (Maine), Bob Corker (Tenn.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), John McCain (Ariz.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and John Thune (S.D.) reportedly have been invited.

Among the invited guests, Chambliss; Corker; Graham and McCain have said they will, or will most likely vote for the resolution ordering a U.S. strike on Syria.

The positions of the other seven senators are either unclear, or they’re undecided.

According to The Hill’s Whip List, four GOP senators who were not invited to the dinner have said they intend to vote in favor of military action. They include Sens. Richard Burr (N.C.), Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.) and Mark Kirk (Ill.).

The Whip List indicates 12 Republican senators who have said they will vote against a strike when the resolution comes before the upper chamber.

While the measure may pass in the Senate, its prospects in the House are unclear.
