Kerry ‘welcomes’ outside probe of State Department cover-up allegations

{mosads}The chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), wrote to Kerry on Tuesday giving him until June 25 to tell the committee whether the allegations of meddling are true and, if so, who was involved and what the department is doing about it.

“The notion that any or all of these cases would not be investigated thoroughly by the Department is unacceptable,” Royce wrote. “In light of the possibility that the Department interfered with the independence of DSS investigations, I ask that you provide Committee staff with a briefing on this matter as soon as possible.”

And House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said he would also lend a hand.

“Chairman Royce and I will work together on it,” Issa told The Hill in a short hallway interview. “We will assist — that’s what we’re doing. We end up doing some of the particulars that are unique to our committee.”
