Atlanta Falcons first NFL team to reach 100 percent vaccinations

The NFL’s Atlanta Falcons has become the first team in the league to have all of its players fully vaccinated.

In a news release on Monday, the Falcons said that 92 percent of its roster had been vaccinated by July 23. Local CBS Atlanta sports director Zach Klein first reported the news of the team’s 100 percent vaccination rate.

“Each player will now enjoy the benefits of being able to work out and eat together,” the Falcons said in the news release. “They won’t have to test daily, won’t have to wear masks around the facility and won’t have to quarantine following a close contact with someone who tests positive.”

The news follows a July memo the league sent warning all 32 clubs that COVID-19 outbreaks could cause games to be canceled and that teams responsible for the cancellations will have to forfeit contests and lose weekly checks, CBS News reported.

The NFL, which has seen blowback from players and coaches over a recent memo on COVID-19 vaccination protocols, said that every team has reached the 75 percent vaccination threshold, according to ESPN.
