The Navajo Nation on Sunday reported 37 new coronavirus cases along with one death, The Associated Press reported.

The Navajo Nation had reported 129 new COVID-19 cases and three coronavirus-related deaths in the two days prior, according to the AP.

This comes as the tribe health department said on Thursday that they will re-enter the “Orange Status,” issuing three new health emergencies for businesses and schools and reworking their in-person gathering limits.

The U.S. is seeing a surge of new COVID-19 infections, with the highly contagious delta variant leading the charge and hitting those who are unvaccinated the hardest.

Navajo Nation sent out a warning last week to their nineteen communities of a health advisory due to the rapid spread of the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Navajo Nation has reported a total of 31,920 COVID cases along with 1,390 related deaths, the AP noted.
