{mosads}Perry also made an appearance Wednesday before House Republicans’ Health Care Caucus, where he emphasized medical malpractice reforms and cutting federal spending on Medicaid. The chairman of the caucus, Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) is a longtime Gingrich supporter.
Gingrich supported an individual health insurance mandate in the past, though he has renounced the mandate in Obama’s healthcare law. And the federal law was modeled on the reforms Romney signed into law as Massachusetts governor, which also included an individual mandate.
All of the Republican presidential candidates have said repeal would be among their first priorities.
