US plastic surgery rose in 2012, report finds

{mosads}”Our annual statistics serve as a snapshot regarding the plastic surgery industry,” said ASPS President Gregory Evans in a statement.

“Facial rejuvenation procedures to eradicate wrinkles [and] refresh or tighten sagging skin experienced growth as more consumers chose to maintain or restore a youthful appearance with these procedures.”

Female breast enlargement declined by 7 percent in 2012, according to the ASPS. The procedure was still the most popular cosmetic surgery, followed by nose reshaping and liposuction.

The report noted that male breast reduction “shot up” by 5 percent, meanwhile, with nearly 21,000 procedures performed in 2012.
