Confidence in US job market hits new high: Gallup

American’s confidence in the job market is at an all time high, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday.

Seventy-one percent of respondents in May said now is a good time to find a quality job, the highest since Gallup started tracking the trend in 2001.

That figure marks a significant jump from March and April, when 65 percent each month rated the job market favorably.

{mosads}Gallup’s survey was conducted May 1-12, with most of the interviews collected after the May 3 Labor Department report announcing that unemployment in April fell to 3.6 percent.

Optimism about the job market has risen fairly steadily since 2011, with the percentage of Americans viewing the job market positively passing 60 percent for the first time in September 2017.

April marked the 103rd consecutive month of employment expansion since July 2009, the beginning of the 118-month recovery from the 2008 recession.

The U.S. economy added 263,000 jobs last month, blowing past expectations.

A slim majority, 51 percent, in Gallup’s survey rated current economic conditions as excellent or good.
