Boehner: There won’t be a shutdown

Outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) says there will not be a government shutdown over federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

{mosads}“No,” Boehner said when asked if there would be a shutdown on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “The Senate is expected to pass a continuing resolution next week. The House will take up the Senate bill.”

The Ohio Republican said the House will investigate videos that purport to show Planned Parenthood trafficking in fetal body parts.

“We’ll also take up a select committee to investigate these horrific videos that we’ve seen from abortion clinics in several states that really raise questions about the use of federal funds and raise questions about aborted fetuses that are born alive,” Boehner said.

Members of the House Freedom Caucus, as well as Republican presidential primary candidates, have threatened not to pass a government-spending bill that includes funding for Planned Parenthood.
