House-Senate budget panel to meet Monday

The House-Senate budget conference committee will hold a public meeting Monday afternoon, the chambers’ Budget committees announced Thursday.

{mosads}Conferees appointed to the joint committee will use the opportunity to discuss the proposals in the separate GOP budgets adopted in March. While Democrats were appointed to the panel, they likely won’t be involved in any private negotiations over a final GOP budget deal.

The Senate GOP conferees are Chairman Mike Enzi (Wyo.) and Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Pat Toomey (Pa.), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Roger Wicker (Miss.), Bob Corker (Tenn.) and David Perdue (Ga.).

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) appointed Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (Ga.), Vice Chairman Todd Rokita (Ind.) and committee members Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (Fla.), Diane Black (Tenn.) and John Moolenaar (Mich.) to the panel.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) appointed all members on the minority side of the budget panel: ranking member Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Democratic Sens. Patty Murray (Wash.), Ron Wyden (Ore.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Mark Warner (Va.), Jeff Merkley (Ore.), Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Tim Kaine (Va.) and independent Angus King (Maine).

The three House Democratic conferees are Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.), the House Budget panel’s ranking member, and Reps. Gwen Moore (Wis.) and John Yarmuth (Ky.).
