A former senior IRS official overseeing tax exempt groups has jumped ship to Loeb and Loeb, the law firm announced Monday.
{mosads}Marcus Owens, who headed the IRS’s exempt organizations division, and Diara Holmes are both joining from Caplin and Drysdale, where they practiced together for over a decade.
At Loeb, the two lawyers will help counsel groups on tax planning, and how to wade through nonprofit law.
Owens has frequently weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the IRS’s improper scrutiny of Tea Party groups, which the agency first acknowledged in May 2013.
