Ryan keeps top Ways and Means staffers

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has opted to keep several senior staffers at the House Ways and Means Committee when he takes over the powerful panel’s gavel in January.

{mosads}George Callas will stay on as staff director for the subcommittee on select revenue measures, and take on the position of chief tax counsel, as Ryan seeks to build momentum for tax reform over the next two years.

Mark Epley will continue as the top staffer at the oversight subcommittee, as Ways and Means keeps up its investigation into the IRS’s improper scrutiny of Tea Party groups.

Ryan also is bringing over two of his aides from the House Budget Committee – Matt Hoffmann to be the staff director for the health subcommittee, and Ted McCann to head the Social Security subcommittee.

Elsewhere, Matt Weidinger will stay as staff director for the human resources subcommittee, and Angela Ellard will continue as top staffer at the trade subcommittee and be chief trade counsel.
