GOP leadership aide heads to K Street

The top spokesperson for House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is heading to a new job on K Street.

Erica Elliott, communications director for the House’s top vote counter, will be leaving the Capitol on Jan. 21, taking a new position in the public policy group at the international law firm Crowell & Moring.

{mosads}Elliott had worked for House Republicans for six years, spending roughly three and a half years with McCarthy. She began work at the Capitol in the office of Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.), serving as his communications director while he worked on the Financial Services Committee during the drafting of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law.

She joined McCarthy’s office in 2010, when he was Chief Deputy GOP Whip, eventually serving as his press secretary and ultimately communications director.

On its website, Crowell & Moring touts a professional roster that includes “numerous former Hill staffers,” as well as former staffers for a host of regulatory agencies.
