US grabbing lower share of foreign investment

The U.S., despite all its advantages, is continuing to grab an ever-smaller share of the world’s foreign direct investment (FDI).

{mosads}The Wall Street Journal notes that the 12 percent of FDI that the U.S. got in 2012 was still by far the largest in the world. But that share is also quite a bit less than in 2000, when the U.S. got 22 percent of foreign direct investment.

The problem for the U.S. and other developed countries is that emerging economies, for the first time, grabbed a majority of the globe’s FDI.
