Financial lobby shop adds name to masthead

One of K Street’s prominent firms for the financial services sector is changing its name.

Porterfield, Lowenthal & Fettig will now be known as Porterfield, Lowenthal, Fettig & Sears, after promoting Dawn Sears to partner.

“The firm and our clients rely on Dawn for her deep financial policy insight and sharp political instinct,” said Dwight Fettig, a firm partner and former Senate Banking Committee staff director, in a statement.

The firm represents some of the biggest names in the finance and insurance world, including KPMG, the New York Bankers Association, Prudential Financial and State Farm Insurance Companies. It has earned more than $1.8 million in lobbying fees so far this year, according to disclosure records.

At the firm, Sears has worked on several major pieces of legislation on behalf of clients, including the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and the Dodd-Frank law. She also monitors regulations that could affect Wall Street and others in the finance world.

Sears came to the firm in 2006 as its vice president and counsel. She formerly was a lobbyist at Van Scoyoc Associates and also was legislative counsel for the Independent Community Bankers of America.
