GOP lawmaker walks back shutdown comments
Stutzman, speaking to reporters on Wednesday, said that the current shutdown debate had become about much more than delaying or defunding ObamaCare. Instead, he said, it was now about GOP “dignity” and ensuring that Republicans had a strong hand in debt ceiling negotiations.
{mosads}“We’ve been ignored on this issue altogether,” Stutzman added. “We’re not going to be disrespected, and so that’s where we’re at today, where we have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”
President Obama and Senate Democrats repeatedly cited, and slammed, Stutzman’s statements on Thursday.
