IRS IG to testify this week, amid Democratic questions

Elizabeth Hofacre, who dealt with tax-exempt applications from an IRS office in Cincinnati, and Carter Hull, a former supervisor of Hofacre’s who recently retired, are also scheduled to testify. Issa called the hearing to examine how and why conservative applications for tax-exempt status were held up.

{mosads}Steven Grodnitzky, Hull’s former boss in Washington, had been invited to testify. But a spokesman for Oversight said that he was excused from testifying after agreeing to sit for a transcribed interview.

Hofacre has said that Hull and other superiors in Washington showed unprecedented interest in applications from Tea Party groups.
