New IRS chief taps risk officer

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has asked Werfel, who took over as acting commissioner last week, to make progress within a month on ensuring that staffers involved in the treatment of conservative groups are held accountable, and in finding and correcting any flaws within the agency that allowed the targeting to happen.

Werfel is also scheduled to make his first appearance before Congress as IRS chief on Monday.
