{mosads}Carmen Group earned $7.3 million in lobbying fees last year, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Many of the firm’s clients are state and local entities or governments.
“Senator Kerrey has a wealth of experience in business, education and public service at the state and federal level,” said the firm’s founder, David Carmen, in a statement.
“His acute understanding of national security is just one of many ways Senator Kerrey can add tremendous value to Carmen Group.”
Kerrey hoped to return to Congress last year, more than a decade after he last served in the Senate, but came up short in the race against now-Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.).
His resume includes working on the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission.
“I have known David Carmen for more than ten years. I admire and respect his values, his business ethic and his experience,” Kerrey said in a statement on Monday. “I look forward to helping Carmen Group clients achieve important objectives.”
