Energy secretary vows gas export decisions this year
“We are getting pretty much ready to start evaluating the docket on a case-by-case basis,” Moniz said. He didn’t give a specific timeline on new decisions but said more would “absolutely” be forthcoming this year.
Moniz faced questions about his review from a pair of pro-export Texas Republicans – Reps. Joe Barton and Ralph Hall.
The Energy Department is reviewing applications to export gas from terminals in the Gulf Coast and elsewhere.
In mid-May, before Moniz arrived, the department approved its second industry application to export gas to nations that lack a trade deal with the U.S. It was the first such approval since 2011.
